Once upon a time there was a mouse named Mrs Frisby. She had four children, and her husband died. They needed to move soon because the plow was going to mow over their home in three days. The problem was that Mr. Ages, the doctor, said that her son Timothy was sick with pneumonia and should not get out of bed for three weeks. If they moved, Timothy would die. If they didn't move, the whole family dies. What to do?
Mrs. Frisby had freed a crow named Jeremy from some string, and they became friends. She explained her problem to him, and he said that the Great Owl could help her. She took his advice and went to the owl. Luckily, the Great Owl was friends with her husband, Jonathan Frisby, and so he helped her by telling her to go to the rats under the rosebush. The rat on guard was called Brutus. He chased her off initially. She came back later with Mr. Ages. This time a rat named Justin was on guard duty, and he knew she was Jonathan's wife. She said she needed to talk to the leader of the rats about her predicament.
When his meeting was over, Nicodemus, the leader of the rats, took her to his office. Nicodemus told Mrs. Frisby about the story of NIMH and The Plan, which was for the rats to be able to grow and harvest their own food. Then Mrs. Frisby explained her problems. Nicodemus told Mrs Frisby that it was possible to move her house with the right equipment, but there was one problem: Dragon, the cat. Dragon would have to be given a special sleeping powder in his food. No one was up for the job because of fear, but finally Mrs. Frisby said she would do it. Later that night, Mrs. Frisby and Justin went through a crawl space on the side of the Fitzgibbon's house. They came up through a hole in the Fitzgibbon's kitchen. When Mrs. Fitzgibbon was going to let Dragon in, Mrs Frisby dashed for the bowl. She poured in the powder and ran back but was not quick enough. Right before she made her escape, the youngest child, Billy Fitzgibbon, caught Mrs. Frisby, and put her in an old bird cage. When the Fitzgibbons were eating dinner, Mrs. Frisby overheard them say exterminators were coming to kill the rats. She need to warn Justin.
Finally, when everyone was asleep, Justin came to the rescue. He freed Mrs. Frisby from her cage and they both went back outside. Outside, they found that the rats were moving the Frisby's house and everything was going great. Then Mrs. Frisby told Justin about the exterminators. Nicodemus decided that everyone should leave except for ten rats. When the exterminators came, only a few rats remained, and there were no signs of The Plan. The exterminators used a poisonous gas that was supposed to kill the rats, but luckily eight escaped safely. The Frisby family lived happily ever after.
